The simplest method of eliminating line current harmonics and improving the system power factor is to use passive LC filters. A passive filter has been a viable approach because of low cost and high efficiency.

Conventionally, passive LC filters and capacitors have been used to eliminate line current harmonics and to compensate reactive power by increasing the power factor.
